S106 Agreements are designed to support the infrastructure required for new development; they establish obligations for developers to pay the local authority for things like schools, transport and recreational amenities. Contributions will soon be coming from the first two approved developments in Welland including £4,600 per house towards open space and recreation facilities.
At the Parish Meeting we will be gathering your thoughts on how this money might be spent. Previously, the Council had expressed interest in improving and expanding the football pitches and the pavilion, large scale improvements to footpaths, bridlepaths and cycleways, adventure play equipment for young children and a grand scheme for using Pursers Orchard as a multi-purpose recreation space. Other parishes have spent money on sprung floors in village halls, tennis courts and skate parks.
